Bob was born into an environment reminiscent of Thomas Hardy - a world of Fordson Tractors, and the frenetic activity of the agricultural threshing yard. For his eighth birthday, he was given a ton of sand - dropped over the farm wall - and he began his love affair with planning, building and sorting sand into all manner of living and structured environments. His father taught how to build a hay rick - and how to gather bales of hay and straw onto a farm trailor as a meaningful load that would not fall off over the roughest terrain - also developing a deep affection for open country and fresh air. His professional career involved graduating from the City of Leicester Polytechnic and working for a Canadian Architect - Alan Walker - himself a graduate of McGill University, Montreal. Bob entered the world of Broadcasting Architecture by joining the BBC in 1972, and totally emersed himself in the joyous world that was the BBC in the 1970's - building all manner of built projects from a simple storage shed to a purpose built Concert Hall for the BBC Philharmonic in Manchester. At Carol Tarrant's invitation, in 1984 he joined her as a founder partner in the Corn Tarrant Partnership - since when many broadcasting and media based projects, buildings, schemes
and designs have been carried through.
